Arabic-English Mixing among English-Language Students at Al alBayt University: A Sociolinguistic Study

Code mixing is extensively investigated within bilingual and multilingual communities. Its actual use in various social contexts factors influencing its frequency are examined the current study. A sample of students majoring English language literature who were enrolled one or more researcher’s courses during Spring semester 2021/2022 asked to voluntarily participate a 34-item online questionnaire about their code (N=200). two gender (female, male) x five academic years (first, second, third, fourth, fifth more) seven cumulative grade average (Distinguished, Excellent, Very good, Good, Pass, deficient, Prefer not answer), 5 dwelling (AlMafraq, AlZarqa, Amman, Irbid, Other city) multivariate analysis variance (MANOVA) found significant four motivating on amongst participants: academic, linguistic, social, psychological.
